2. Disconnect External Devices
Remove all peripherals (e.g., mouse, keyboard, USB drives, etc.).
Disconnect any external power adapters or cables.
If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out right away.
For non-removable batteries, focus on drying and avoid attempting disassembly unless you're experienced.
Tilt the laptop to allow the liquid to flow out of the keyboard and ports.
Avoid shaking the laptop, as this may cause the liquid to spread further inside.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel to wipe off any visible liquid from the exterior.
Pay special attention to the keyboard, touchpad, and vents.
Open the laptop to a tent-like position (inverted "V") to let air circulate.
Place it in a dry, well-ventilated area.
Avoid using heat sources like hair dryers, as excessive heat can damage components.
If available, place the laptop in a container or bag filled with silica gel packets to absorb moisture.
As a last resort, uncooked rice can be used, but ensure no grains enter the laptop.
Allow the laptop to dry completely before attempting to power it on.
Be patient, as rushing may lead to further damage.
If the spilled liquid was not water (e.g., coffee, juice), clean sticky residues from the exterior carefully with a damp, soft cloth.
If you’re unsure about the extent of the damage, take your laptop to an IT professional.
Inform them about the type of liquid spilled to help them assess the damage accurately.
